Tell us how you first met? who what when where why? give us the dirty details.

We met out through a mutual friend. Tony was with another girl and the liquid courage in Emily allowed her to introduce herself regardless. A couple weeks later we met out again during Mardi Gras. After a round of drinks, Emily suggested they grab dinner later that week…Tony never thought she’d remember let alone follow up with a phone call and ask if their date was still on :)

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Tony | I’m not sure if there was one singular moment. To me it was a series of things, on our first date we actually got asked to leave the restaurant by the staff because they wanted to close, I knew then she was different. When my family would come into town and she’d clear her schedule and spend the entire day with my parents or siblings while I was in the office, that’s when I knew how much family meant to her. The first charity event I took her to I turned around and she’d disappeared, 10 minutes later she’s introducing me to people she’d just met, that’s when I knew she was a strong woman. Pretty much anyone I’ve ever had her around friends, family, coworkers, have all said the same things about her – so that’s when I knew I wasn’t crazy.

Emily | I agree, there was not a single “Aha!” moment. It was more an accumulation of time spent together. The strongest indications to me was our similar upbringing and the values our parents instilled in us (as corny as that sounds). We want similar things out of life and many of the same things are important to us both but we are able to help each other experience things in different ways. At first, Tony’s NFL life was surreal but he showed me how friendly it can be. The opportunities we’ve had seeing concerts, traveling, formal events, have all been fabulous but I knew he was the one because we had just as much fun taking a walk in Forest Park, going to the Zoo, sitting at home watching youTube videos, sneaking our own snacks into the movie theater, and taking naps.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did ”feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Tony | We took the second weekend in July and headed to Wisconsin to spend time with family and celebrate Emily’s Grandpa Lee McCrummen’s 80th birthday! It was a beautiful Friday in Door County, after a fun filled morning that included riding around on Cathy’s sweet Vespa, a trip to Tony’s favorite breakfast spot The Good Egg, and a stop by the visiting McCrummen clan’s cottage. Emily asked her father Jim to take the kids on an afternoon boat ride, little did she know she was playing right into her boyfriend’s plans. After a good while on the water, they headed back in and docked the boat. Tony asked Emily if she wanted to walk the half mile trip back to the cottage.

Emily | I seriously played right into his plan. On our walk back I was the one who suggested we stop at Anderson Dock! With the box in his pocket he wasn’t sure how but thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get a few minutes alone with Emily. As their walk began she asked if they could make a quick stop on Anderson Dock so she could freshen up.

Tony | Anderson Dock was the perfect place to ask the question, it was the dock in which Emily’s late grandpa Joe used to take her fishing as a child. Tony sat and waited for Emily on the dock’s lone bench, when she arrived she sat beside him and they spent the next thirty minutes talking about life and where their futures may bring them. The talk of their future was the perfect segue for Tony to get down on one knee. He knelt down and asked Emily “Will you marry me?” She initially greeted his question with shock, laughter, and repeatedly asking “Is this real?” After the initial shock wore off she wiped the tears from her eyes and said “Yes, of course!

Emily | I did NOT see this coming! I knew it was only a matter of time before we became engaged, Tony was very respectful of me finishing graduate school and getting a job before asking me to marry him. With all my ducks in a row this was naturally the next step! I thought it would more than likely be before the start of the football season but not then. I honestly hadn’t showered, looked a mess, laughed, cried and he still wanted to marry me!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

The care and compassion she shows to everyone. From the people she works with every day, to our families, to our friends, and to me she never stops caring and never stops loving. Tony has the best heart and strongest loyalty. He treats everyone with respect and does not judge. I think he would have the same conversation with a homeless person as the president. Tony takes advantage of no one and is the hardest worker I know but is accepting of others help, treating their ideas and opinions with equal merit, which is truly a gift.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Tony | Emily cannot sit on the couch without wrapping up in a blanket it doesn’t matter if it’s 110 or 30 degrees outside Emily always needs a blanket.

Emily | Real talk, blankies are the best. Tony sings in the shower and he’s actually good! (yes I can hear you). Also, guilty of watching the Food Network Channel and I seriously think he could win Chopped.

Besides getting married – whats the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Tony | Since I know absolutely nothing about her dress, I’m looking forward to seeing her for the first time. Also looking forward to having all of our family and friends in to celebrate with us.

Emily | I am so excited to actually be married! I cannot wait to say “I do” in front of my family and friends who love and support us so much. Past the ceremony, I cannot wait to dance at the reception!

Tell us how you first met? who what when where why? give us the dirty details.

http://www.mywedding.com/shaunatyler/stories.html

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Tyler = One of the times I knew Shauna was “the one” was during our first “Skate With Santa” at the now closed U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights, IL. I think I knew for me before that, but seeing her with my daughters solidified the missing piece of the puzzle.

Shauna = When he fulfilled one of the quotes that I held dear for so long: “One day someone is going to hug you so tight that all of your broken pieces will stick back together.” I have always had huge trust issues and always said that I would never let anyone close enough to me to allow me to trust them. I can honestly say that aside from my daddy, Tyler is the only male I have ever allowed myself to trust.

Tell is the one thing you love most about each other.

The answer to this question is the same for both of us: the thing that we love most about each other is also the thing that we hate the most about one another which is that neither one of us will back down to the other and we constantly challenge each other to be better.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Tyler = Shauna crosses herself every time we pass roadkill and she is not even Catholic; she is the only Lutheran I know who does that.

Shauna = When Tyler runs, he holds his arms really close to his sides and looks like he is shadowboxing his boobs….he does not see the humor in it like I do.

Besides getting married – whats the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Tyler = The fabulous party with our closest family and friends

Shauna = Enjoying the day that I never thought would come (as I was the girl who was never going to get married) and seeing how much glitter I can get to shoot out of a cannon.

As a surprise for Shauna’s parents who will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary about 2 weeks before our wedding, we had a tier of their cake replicated by The Cakery so they will be able to cut a cake as well

All the males have a superhero in their boutonniere; Shauna has catwoman in her bouquet as a nod to Tyler’s adoration for Batman. She also has momentous for her maternal grandparents in her bouquet.

Tyler’s father who is no longer with us played with his band in the balcony at the re-opening of The Fox in 1982.

Tell us how you first met? who what when where why? give us the dirty details.
Jason and I met while working at Schnucks when we were both in high school.

When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

We’ve been through so much together. We figured out what we both want to do in life, college, moving out of our parents house, graduating college, getting our first big jobs, buying our first cars, the list goes on and on. These things were exciting, stressful, and sometimes challenging. But, we stuck with each other through and through. There was never any question about who else I’d want to be with. We’ve tackled everything together and I wouldn’t want to do it with anyone else.

I am a very indecisive person. Ashley has always been there to help me make decisions in life and I don’t trust anyone more than her to be there for me through the thick and thin. I know I can count on her to always shed light on any situation, and bring me back down to earth when I think I can do something that is pretty much impossible. (i.e. negotiating the price of a car down to $0.00) We will always be there for each other to help and ultimately achieve what our goals are. We are two very different people, but we both agree on one thing: We found the person that we want to be with for the rest of our lives and wouldn’t change a thing about each other.

Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

I saw the proposal coming and while I tried to keep it a surprise, I think Ashley may have thought it was coming as well. We have taken a few trips Hermann, Missouri which is full of vineyards and breweries and gives off a German atmosphere. I told Ashley that I wanted to celebrate my 25th birthday with just her away from everyone so I planned a weekend trip to Hermann. That was probably Ashley’s first hint, since I never plan anything. We stayed at a Bed and Breakfast, and after breakfast the first morning I told Ashley that I was cold, and that we needed to go to the cottage so I could get my jacket. She was a little frustrated, because we had already gotten a late start, and she just wanted to get on with the day. We went up to our cottage and I got my jacket and the ring. When we left, we went to a small garden area looking over the river and the tree line. (Fall is Ashley’s favorite season and the leaves were gorgeous). I looked at Ashley, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would spend the rest of her life with me. She claims that she said yes, but to this day, I still don’t think she gave me an answer. At that point, we just grabbed a bottle of wine, or two, and sat in that garden where I proposed and talked about our future together. It was one of the best conversations of my entire life. We could not stop smiling and coming up with new things to do for our future.

Tell is the one thing you love most about each other.

Jason’s goofiness. I could be having the worst day ever and I come home and he makes me laugh.

Ashley’s drive to achieve. Ashley does everything to the best of her ability, no matter how trivial. While this does add a lot of stress to her life, I hope to see it as opportunities for me to help in her success. She makes me want to work harder!!

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Dancing, flexing, making faces all in the mirror ,,, sorry Jason!

I love when Ashley Randomly skips around the house for no reason. She truly looks joyful and it always make me smile.

Besides getting married – whats the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Celebrating with everyone we love. We have a lot of family and friends coming from out of town and it really means so much to us, to have them there to share the memories with.
