Dan and I met at Bar Napoli (in Clayton, MO). I was out with a few friends, and kept noticing this guy standing across the bar staring at me. So, I went up and started talking to Dan (although Dan would probably say he came over and started talking to me)! Dan asked me for my phone number, and he called over the next week asking me out. The following weekend we met up with friends at the same place. While we were talking, one of my friends (Katherine) came up and said “Alisa, you know my brother?” Dan was her older brother! Then another friend came up and said “Alisa, you know Dan Cuneo?” Apparently everyone knew him but me!
I knew I was in love with Dan after our first week away from each other after we met. This was when I went to the Dominican Republic with friends for a week. I missed Dan so much, and couldn’t wait to get back to see him. After that I knew he was “the one” for me.
The night before a Christmas Party Dan and I were having for family and friends, Dan told me to go upstairs because he had a Saint Nick’s present for me. I replied with “I had no clue it was Saint Nick’s Day! I didn’t get you anything!” I later found out it wasn’t Saint Nick’s Day. He called me downstairs and told me to start looking around the living room for my present. As I was looking, he was saying really nice things about our relationship and memories of being together. I finally found the ring (through him pointing to it) hanging from the Christmas Tree. He then asked me to marry him.
Dan had both of our parents on the way over to the house. His parents knew what was going on, but mine thought they were coming over to help hang shelves and picture frames for the party. Dan had asked my parents’ permission earlier in the week, but told them he was still looking at rings. They were completely surprised when they finally noticed the ring on my finger after being at the house for a few minutes. Dan had gotten a bottle of Dom Perignon and we all toasted to the good news! Then all of our family and friends were able to celebrate with us at our Christmas party the next day.
Alisa loves Dan’s generosity and care for others (me, my family, his family, my friends, his friends).
Dan loves Alisa’s smile and compassion for others.
Spending the entire day with our family and friends!
